A Festival of Free Things: Williamsburg’s Friendsgiving for the World Day of the Poor

On November 8th, the Shalom Catholic Community in Brooklyn held a Friendsgiving event in communion with the Catholic Church’s worldwide initiative, the World Day of the Poor. This Friendsgiving celebration was organized as a Festival of Free Things: free clothes, free meals, free gifts, live music, friendship-building activities, nail services, free rosaries, and more. Everything was offered outdoors on 85 North 15th Street, between Greenpoint and Williamsburg. The event gathered around 120 volunteers, who prepared food deliveries throughout Brooklyn, served meals, distributed clothing, and set up all the spaces. Moysés Azevedo Begins Visit to Shalom Missions in North America, Starting in New York

On the morning of November 6, Moysés Azevedo, founder and general moderator of the Shalom Catholic Community, arrived in New York City, kicking off a series of visits to the Community’s missions across North America. Accompanied by his general assistant, Fr. Saulo Dantas, and the regional coordinator of Shalom for North America, Fr. Cristiano Pinheiro, Moysés will visit the Shalom missions in New York, Toronto,and Boston. The Shalom Catholic Community in Brooklyn Celebrates Its 5th Anniversary

October 22, 2020 marked the founding of the Shalom Catholic Community in Brooklyn, a date providentially aligned with the feast day of Saint John Paul II.
