Kolkata (India)
Following in the footsteps of Saint Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa), founder of the Missionaries of Charity, the Shalom Mission Trip in India will take place from September 4 to 22, 2026.
Volunteers who register for this expedition and complete the full selection process will live 15 days in Kolkata, together with the Indian people, in an experience of service, culture, and faith.
According to Rainara Santos, missionary of the Community of Life in International Assistance in Rome, evangelization and the formation of Indian youth are among the main goals of this Mission Trip:
“In 2023 we made our first visit to India, in New Delhi and Kolkata, with the goal of dialoguing with the local Church with a view to a possible missionary presence in those cities. On that occasion, in Kolkata, we proposed to the bishop a collaboration of our Community in the formation of young people, as well as our availability to work together in the evangelization of that people, marked by poverty and the lack of knowledge of Christ.
We also chose Kolkata because of our friendship with the Salesian order and to offer volunteers the opportunity of a pilgrimage to the places where the Saint of Charity lived, who carries the name of the city of her mission as part of her own identity: Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta.”
Registration is open until November 30, 2025.
Lubango (Angola)
The expedition to Angola, where the Shalom Community is present in the city of Lubango, will take place from July 1 to 15, 2026. This Mission Trip in Africa will be the first expedition with volunteers to the “Peace Space,” with actions focused on health, evangelization, and missionary visits to the local people.
“Being a volunteer, offering time and some goods for the construction of the Peace Space in Angola… that was what I thought I would experience in Lubango. But God, who sees beyond my limited and shortsighted eyes, made me realize that the Gospel of the Good Samaritan is not something of the past, written almost 2,000 years ago. More than visiting people who suffer all kinds of needs, approaching them, knowing their names (Antonio, Kassinda, Maninho, Vanda…) and they knowing mine; I learned what fraternity is: I love God, our Father, whom I do not see; and I am brother to those I do see and approach, freely sharing the “abundance” I receive from God.” — Everaldo Bezerra, missionary of the Shalom Covenant Community.
Registration open until October 2025.
Chaves (Brazil)
The South American Mission Trip will take place in Chaves, in the Brazilian Amazon. An expedition with two dimensions: missionary activities in the ribeirinha (riverbank) communities and evangelization actions in the municipal headquarters.
The main goals of this missionary adventure in the Amazon are: to support the most vulnerable with specialized care, culture, and leisure; to provide an enriching experience for volunteers; to foster social responsibility and fraternal charity; to inspire the sharing of gifts and knowledge; to live the culture of encounter; to work with people at social risk or abandonment; and to promote the missionary experience.
Registrations will be open until September 9, 2025. The expedition will take place from February 5 to 20, 2026.
