This September, the Shalom Catholic Community UK attended the first CHARIS England and Wales General Assembly, on a two-day retreat with Communion as a main subject.
Filled with moments of praise and worship, sharing and talks about the central theme, the encounter can be described as a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the Charismatic Community in England and Wales. During the moments of sharing, the members of different Communities and Expressions could talk about the joys and challenges of spreading the Gospel in this land.
Another theme that was constantly present in the discussions was the New Time of the Spirit in the United Kingdom, with many people, especially among the youth who are seeking to connect with God. As communities and missionaries, we must be prepared to welcome them and show them the way to Christ!
We also had the chance to present the Shalom Community Charism and our work in the UK and around the world, and to reassure her that we are always available to support the Church in the United Kingdom in any way that she might need us.
What is CHARIS?
CHARIS (Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Service) is the official body established by the Vatican in 2018 to serve and encourage the entire Catholic Charismatic Renewal worldwide. Its mission is not to govern, but to promote unity, communion, and service among charismatic groups, communities, and realities, fostering evangelization, life in the Spirit, and ecumenical commitment.
