The Lubango Project in Angola: An Educational Space of Peace

A new life doesn’t come into being on its own. It is built through care, presence, and concrete acts of love.

Missionaries and children from Lubango, Angola

In southern Angola, Lubango is a land of beauty, culture, and faith. Yet behind its landscapes, thousands of children and teenagers grow up in environments marked by poverty, fragile family structures, and limited opportunities. In the Mitcha neighborhood, this reality is even harsher: restricted access to education, too few schools, early school dropout, and a future that, for many, feels far out of reach.

There, childhood calls for protection.
Youth call to be heard.
And life calls for a real chance to begin again.

Despite the challenges, the community holds a quiet strength: families willing to work together, young people eager to learn, and neighbors who believe education can transform destinies. On this very ground where hardship and hope meet, the Educational Space of Peace in Lubango is born and you can be the one to transform lives thought your donation.

A place where peace is learned by living it

More than a building, the Educational Space of Peace will be a sign of care, a place where every child is seen, valued, and encouraged to become the protagonist of their own story. A place where learning also means rediscovering dignity, strengthening relationships, and realizing that a different future is possible.

A response to local reality

Today, in Mitcha, there are no integrated educational structures specifically focused on vulnerable adolescents. Existing initiatives are occasional and insufficient for the level of need. The Educational Space of Peace is being created to fill this gap, working alongside the efforts of the State and the Church to promote education, a culture of peace, and stronger community life.

The project will be managed by the Comunidade Católica Shalom, in partnership with volunteers, collaborators, and public and private institutions committed to promoting life. In the Educational Space of Peace, everyone learns and teaches; everyone builds and is built up.

Building peace is an act that saves futures

Our goal is clear: €25,000 to make the construction of the Educational Space of Peace in Lubango possible, with an initial capacity to serve 30 to 90 children and adolescents. But the impact goes far beyond numbers, it means transformed lives, renewed dreams, and a strengthened community.
